 | The Acolyte Guild is
composed of adults and youth. They are cross-trained so that as they
grow in ability, they can take on many of the responsibilities of
serving at our Lord's Table. An acolyte is an altar server . In
fact, the origin of the work "acolyte" is from the Greek for server.
Acolytes carry the the processional cross, candles and the scripture
in and out for of the sanctuary during worship services. They also
carry torches, incense, and Banners. They may assist with setting
the table for communion, and holding the flagons of wine for the Lay
Eucharistic Ministers. Any responsible boy or girl in at least 6th
grade or 11years old can be an acolyte.

 | The Lay Eucharistic
Ministers, or Lectors and Chalice Bearers, are a very dedicated group
serving at both Sunday Services and most special services. They read the
Bible lessons during the services, lead the Prayer's of the People, and
assist in the celebration of the Eucharist. St. Peter's is also very
honored to have a Verger as part of our Liturgical staff. A verger assists
the priest during worship - particularly when there is a procession. The
Office of the Verger dates back to the Middle Ages and was the "Protector
of the Procession."
